Engagements

Spinning Dot Theatre
“Spinning Dot is an innovative theatre company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our focus is on international plays to deepen the global connection in our communities and beyond through ways that are intriguing, enriching, and surprising for audiences”

Crescendo Detroit
“Our mission is to transform the lives of youth, ages 5-18, in the neighborhoods in which we operate by developing intense instrumental music, vocal music and dance programs that promote artistic excellence and character building. “

"All students in grades 1-8 are encouraged to take part in our theater productions, which include both original scripts and well-known plays. In addition, we offer classes in improvisation and playwriting as well as workshops on theater tech and stage management for students interested in the more technical aspects of theater."

The Neutral Zone
JumpStart Theatre
“The Neutral Zone is a diverse, youth driven teen center dedicated to promoting personal growth through artistic expression, community leadership and the exchange of ideas. Youth continue to be the heart and voice of Neutral Zone and the driving force behind what we do”
“EdTA, in collaboration with New York City-based companies iTheatrics and Music Theatre International (MTI), created JumpStart Theatre, a scalable pilot program designed to build sustainable musical theatre programs where there were previously none”

MPOW

Michigan Artist Citizens
“Michigan Performance Outreach Workshop (MPOW) was established to bring performing arts education to children in the greater Southeast Michigan community in order to promote creative expression, build self-esteem, and strengthen the community as a whole. “

"The greeting sets the tone for the class as fourth graders line up in the hall to high five, fist bump, wave, dance, or shake a foot with teacher Margaret McFadden. Drama is a new addition to the regular academic schedule for students in grades three through seven this year, with an acting elective option for students in grades eight and nine. Once a rotation, students arrive at drama, and a quick boogie through the doorway reminds the fourth graders that this is a space for active learning, exploration, creative expression, and fun."
“Michigan Artist Citizens (MACs) are a select cohort of community engaged students who serve for one year as program leaders and/or teaching artists for SMTD Community Partnerships. Successful MACs tend to be deeply committed to community engagement and have the energy and desire to develop and grow community programs in partnership with others.”

"Walnut Hill Summer Theater develops theatrical ability, skills, and knowledge through performance and classroom work for further study in school and college. The program consists of three productions in four weeks (two plays and a musical). Each student is cast in one play and all are cast in the musical, with each show performed on consecutive evenings. Daily classes in acting, musical theater, and dance are an integral part of the program, and strike a balance between process and performance"
